Letter from our Convention Convenor - 1st September 2024

My Dear Fellow AA Travellers,

Hoping that I find you all well and thus far having a wonderful and serene 2024 filled with the joys of Sobriety.

Here we are in the final run up to our 2nd Mallorca AA International Convention and it's only a matter of weeks now before we all come together here in sunny Mallorca.

We are all, here within our AA Mallorca community, so very much looking forward to having you back with us and helping us share in the wonderful fellowship and friendship that exists throughout the worldwide AA communities. According to the known bookings and many correspondences we have had it does indeed seem like we will receive visitors from all parts of the globe.  How wonderful is that! What a fantastic opportunity for us all to listen, learn and grow from the many varied shares and stories which we will hear during our great event.

We have endeavoured to compile an itinerary that offers as much AA activity / meetings as is possible and to cover as many of the most important topics and questions that arise on our daily Sobriety journey and within our many AA communities.

We have also included some fun activities such as a quiz which will of course have a section on AA history as well as other such subjects like music, general knowledge and geography with possibly a few surprise bonus questions along the way. Also, we are holding a games afternoon event which will involve interesting fun, light activities and offer the opportunity for a bit of friendly and light entertainment and competition. Also, as last year we will have sunrise yoga, meditation and meetings taking place on the beautiful beach only a minute or two from the hotel as well as in the hotel gardens. This proved such a popular event last year. Added to this will be our Friday evening disco and karaoke where we can get the glad rags on and enjoy the sparkle of a full on and all lights flashing night out. I'm sure we'll discover many hidden talents on the microphone at our karaoke. Also, there will be exclusive AA and friends’ musical get-togethers and we'll have some of our very own talented musician fellows playing and inviting us to sing along. A very popular theme at many conventions I believe and, we certainly did have a great experience here at last year's Mallorca convention.

Added to all this activity we will also have our friends from Al-Anon and ACA join us and we can look forward to a number of shares that they will give during our convention. We are also delighted to be having a share from one of the Spanish AA speaking fellowship members and although it will indeed be spoken in Spanish, we will have an interpreter there to ensure that every word is understood. I believe this will be a very special experience for us all and help us to grow stronger relationships with our fellow Spanish AA community here on the island.

I would also like to mention that the Hotel Cabot Pollensa Park Spa has been absolutely fantastic in their endeavours to ensure that all our event requirements are being fulfilled and have made many concessions on costs, not only on bookings but also on dining and beverages for all our convention attendees.

Now that you are on our convention website you will find so much information about our event and which will detail for you our full convention itinerary and, also hopefully, can answer many of your questions on such things as travel and local information.

Also, you will find following the email address  aa.mallorca.service@gmail.com where you could contact us on if you would wish to offer your services during the convention.  We would certainly be thankful for any service you may wish to offer and any activity you would like to be part of.

And so, as we enter these final weeks before we all come together it only remains for us to wish you all a pleasant and safe journey here to Mallorca where we will eagerly await your arrival and look forward to offering you all a huge welcome to our 2nd Mallorca AA International Convention.

In the meantime, we send you our kindest regards and as always,

Yours in Fellowship and Friendship,

Dennis,

Convention Convenor (On behalf of the AA Mallorca International Convention Committee)
